In 2013, York IT Services moved to new premises, providing an improved sales environment for customers where they could try out machines and systems in comfort. The new shop also provided better workshop space and facilities for the company’s technicians.
The expertise of its staff and their dedication to delighting customers have been the key to the success of York IT Services since 2001, and are the foundation for its continued growth.
Meet the team:
Simon set up York IT Services in his back bedroom in 2001, having decided to go it alone after being made redundant. He thrived on the challenge of establishing and growing his own business, eventually moving into high-street premises and taking on staff.
He says: “What I enjoy most is solving a problem for a customer and leaving them delighted with what I’ve done. It’s extremely rewarding to be able to do that every day.”
Simon is a keen motorsports fan, particularly Formula 1, as well enjoying classic car rallies with his dad. They’ve taken trips to Spain, Germany and France in his dad’s Austin Healey 3000. Simon also enjoys camping with his wife and two children around Yorkshire and the Lake District.
IT is in the blood of the Bullen family. Eddie joined York IT Services in 2015, having studied Business & IT at York St. John University. He hails from Milton Keynes, where his family runs its own IT business. After graduating, he returned to Milton Keynes, but only lasted for two weeks before deciding York was where he wanted to be.
He is the master of our workshop; computer repairer extraordinaire. He manages the workshop and handles the workflow to ensure we provide a fast, responsive service to customers.
One of the big attractions of York for Eddie is its vibrant music scene, and he has become a well-known vinyl DJ on the York circuit. He’s also a PlayStation gaming fan. When the urge to be outdoors takes him, he enjoys cycling.
IT Support Technician
Luke is our principal IT support engineer, providing installation and on-site support services for our business customers. He joined the team in October 2015.
Luke originally studied Law at York University, before starting work in law and deciding it wasn’t for him after all. He moved into an IT support job in London, which he did for a year before setting off to travel the world with his girlfriend. When they returned to the UK they decided to settle in York, and we were delighted to be able to take him on.
He’s a bright and cheery person to have around – and our clients are always pleased to see him. Outside work, Luke is a keen baker.
IT Support Technician
Tom joined York IT Services in September 2015 on an apprenticeship programme, straight after finishing his sixth form studies in York.
He quickly established himself as an invaluable member of the team, learning fast and developing his skills on a daily basis. Tom now mans the business support helpdesk and carries out all remote monitoring work for our customers. It’s his job to ensure all back-ups are saved every day and that general administration for all services is accurate and up to date.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys playing tennis and football, as well as cycling. He’s also an avid PlayStation gamer.
