In 2013, York IT Services moved to new premises, providing an improved sales environment for customers where they could try out machines and systems in comfort. The new shop also provided better workshop space and facilities for the company’s technicians.
The expertise of its staff and their dedication to delighting customers have been the key to the success of York IT Services since 2001, and are the foundation for its continued growth.
Meet the team:
Simon set up York IT Services in his back bedroom in 2001, having decided to go it alone after being made redundant. He thrived on the challenge of establishing and growing his own business, eventually moving into high-street premises and taking on staff.
He says: “What I enjoy most is solving a problem for a customer and leaving them delighted with what I’ve done. It’s extremely rewarding to be able to do that every day.”
Simon is a keen motorsports fan, particularly Formula 1, as well enjoying classic car rallies with his dad. They’ve taken trips to Spain, Germany and France in his dad’s Austin Healey 3000. Simon also enjoys camping with his wife and two children around Yorkshire and the Lake District.
IT Support Technician
Josh arrived at York IT Services in September 2016, fresh from studying Computer Science at York St John University. He started out as an IT Engineer, but switched roles to IT Support in 2017.
His broad expertise enables him to provide a wide range of services for our customers, from installing PCs and providing remote support for home and business customers, through to repairs, email migrations and managing servers, routers and Wi-Fi systems. His skills as a trouble-shooter mean his favourite part of the job is overcoming challenges, and installing new systems for customers that enhance their IT capabilities and efficiency.
When he’s not at work, Josh enjoys gaming, watching films and playing football, as well as getting out into nature for hiking and cycling.
Music maestro Matt joined us in September 2019 after graduating with a BA in Music from York St John University – having studied Music, Music Technology and Psychology at A-levels in his native Norfolk.
Matt is the main point of contact for our home customers and is the friendly face of our shop. His daily tasks include diagnosing, testing and resolving IT problems, as well as repairing and setting up new machines. He brings creativity and a logical approach to problem solving, and enjoys building relationships with our customers.
He spends much of his time outside work playing games online. He loves the way gaming brings people together, enabling him to communicate and create memories with friends, whether from his hometown or anywhere in the world.
